Low Tide

Low Tide

—————

Muggy morning stinks with sweat

as the mosquitoes buzz

at low tide…

Mud sucks at eager feet

plucking at toes who

search and poke…

Turning over bodies

bloated and dank…

Drifting off with the tidal flow…

Old mysteries rear their ugly head

in the emerald green, bay waters…

But the mud hides its secrets well…

with only the fear of bones…

and flesh…

to rise up…

and scream in the cooling breeze…

At some drunken…

or unguarded…

moment…

  1. Have written wonderful, David!
I understand that reflux may help to reveal little of the mysteries hiding in the deep seas. – Maybe I’m wrong but I hope you do not mind!
Have a great day, David! Stefanie fondly! :)
