Waters Creek falls have always been our starting point in the Georgia mountains….In a truly ritualistic way, we climb down to the falls, typically early in the morning, and bask in its inherent beauty…No matter how many times we see it, there is an unshakable uniqueness. Perhaps it is dawn’s light or just the power of the area, but I always sense a sort of magic in the air. On a side note, I understand it’s a popular swimming location in the summer. Hmmmmm, maybe one day……
Standing by, I hear the sound
of thunder shaking on the ground…
hands a tremble touch my chest
as soon my heart begins to pound…
with shaking legs I start to walk….
pushing back the green grass stalk…
Soon enough I reach the crest
full of doubts and little talk….
Glancing down beyond the trees…
The water sparkling like the sea…
The roar drowns my fears away
as I step out into the breeze…
Like a rock I start to fall…
with a tremor in my jaw….
splashing in the pool below
beneath the crashing of the falls…
sinking deep within the lake…
My ears full of screams will take…
the happiness of my mistake…
soul is now mine to take….
