The Devouring…

Chomp...

———-

At the point of greatest fear the memory came…

of the time I saw a ghost….

It beckoned to me..

said my name…

with eyes closed I screamed…

throat shredded yet safe I was…

A scream can save…

Here within the forest,

the blight appeared…

sultry with her glances,

and lingering were his touches…

Slowly the woods bowed to its new master…

honey filled stings smashingly toned

dizziness was the new stance,

and soon I stood in a plain alone…

Mind adrift in a sea of dread…

eye to face with my lover…

My mouth opened with a greasy shriek as

she caught it with his teeth

and devoured it with malignant daintiness…

The past was gone,

and memories had failed like tired engines….

tumbling forward my greatest gift was lost to me…

and balanced for another…

  1. you should not be, this one is awesome! you have the talent of interpreting nature through poetry 😉 that trunk is a bit spooked really, like it will gonna eat someone alive 😉

  2. Wow! This one is a treasure. The photo alone is hauntingly beautiful. And the words. I know you like to write short poems, but I like the length of this. I get it, too. Can picture it all. dainty + malignant….and it works…quite well. Powerful…. Sam 🙂
