Gobbled up

falling downnnn

——

with a sneer it opened up

grinning like a shark…

The Earth was torn asunder

and out does pour the dark…

—–

Rolling cross the countryside

It began to eat…

leaves and dirt and forest floor

to the depths you’ll meet…

—–

holes are made of nothing…

only air and black…

but hunger is insatiable…

and nature is the snack….

—–

bring your gun bring your knife…

swing your walking stick…

connect upon the air…

insidiously sick…

—–

Try to cover up…

this rip into the night…

better pray for rain…

than try to capture light…

—–

fixing, mending, loving, sending….

lies they all will be…

this hole will stay forever…

a scar for you and me…

    • You know. The sinkholes in that area are very interesting, but still they are a sad sign of our shrinking aquifer. Very unstable area. Thank you so much for the comment 🙂

    • Nor would I :). But yes. It’s a frustrated acceptance and I suppose there’s more than one way to look at this poem as well:). Thank you, Robyn:)
