Under a Sky so Blue…

Ft. Desoto picnic area

——–

Under a sky so blue…

We wonder what is true….

Searching for some shade…

The sweat that needs to cool….

—–

Beneath the moon so black….

that clever heart attack…

It jumps into your throat…

and nails drive in your back…

—–

Below the clouds so white…

The snow it does delight…

But melts before it’s touched…

upon the word so bright…

—–

Above the Earth I see…

The land majestically…

My troubles have I faced…

No need to run or flee…

  1. Always a delight to visit and read – Starts out so summery and then quickly drops into dark edginess, that always takes me by surprise! 🙂
    Fab!
(Your opening lines remind me of, ‘Under a violet moon’ by Blackmores night – thanks you’ve given me an ear worm now!!! LOL 🙂

  2. Yes — enveloped within the glory and beauty of life, there is always some unexpected darkness to manage. Does seem you have done just this though. Beautiful piece once again David!

  3. David Your poem is very refreshing, a cool escape paradise as what you describe. If I’ll be given a choice I want to be there. Unlike in metro Manila most houses are like microwave oven. The temperature is unimaginable. It will bake my brain anytime now. Thanks for sharing Nonoy Manga

    • I’m glad the poem gives that feel…We are in the tropics as well, and I know what you mean because the heat and humidity feel like a microwave in Florida too

    • I will tell you this…I’m thankful to live closer to the coast…At least we get a little breeze…The middle is much worse…Manilla must be the microwave you describe…wow

  4. you know what, its funny as i looked on that image..i thought the water was moving.. i think i’m on the state of delusion haha!yeah nonoy was right, we are the microwave capital of the Philippines arrrg! thanks for this refreshment david 🙂
