Anticipation

——

Its purity never called into question

The shrinking river

continued to carve its path

a little slower…

slightly kinder…

And with the gentleness

of the sweetest flower

waiting like a tightly

coiled serpent

for the day

when the floods

will come….

  1. Beautiful. The ever changing rivers we get to enjoy. I do love ones like yours that are a bit smaller and show their personality more sweetly than the wide and surging ones like I have near me. This poem of yours makes me decide to seek out one of the tributaries to see what it has to say. Many thanks, as always, for sharing your gift here.

  2. That picture is gorgeous. Those trees are one of my favorite. Like I said before I want and will eventually draw one. Your writing is so inspiring, how do you find the time? Thanks again and I truly admire your talent.

  3. I love how at the same time as the river shrinks and grows kinder it ALSO prepares like a colied snake. Reminds me of one of my favorite quotes: “We must combine the toughness of the serpent and the softness of the dove, a tough mind and a tender heart.” ~ Martin Luther King. Nature shows us so much. Thank you for being our teacher through your interpretation of nature. 🙂 Love brooks and rivers, reminds me of Big Sir, CA. Thank you for the happy memory. And you do have great talent. Embrace what you love. Embrace your talent! 🙂 Sam
