Ancient Beauty

———

infinity may be out of reach,

but beauty adorns

this ancient friend.

Delicate mosses

and ferns green

from nature’s steady hand

drape this tree like the crinkly

wrappings from

the shiny gifts that

may sit under a tree

not half as lovely

as this one standing

alone….

and untouched

in the

grass.

  1. This is an amazing photo…the written work, very striking too. Certainly a fine tribute to these old treasures that are fading in our planet.

  2. So wonderful David. I have a tree in my front yard that must be a cousin of the one in your image πŸ™‚ I’ll need to do a post just to show you! It’s a weeping willow (huge) — is this one? Love the way you used the metaphor of ancient hand… and sent a message that aging can be beautiful. Something so unappreciated in our society. Thanks David — off to NYC for medical today – so will try to catch your posts from the i phone if possible~ Sending Love!

  3. You’ve captured the inner beauty of the tree. What a happy tree he is to be shown to the world through your eyes. I’d like to climb him. Breath-taking shot, and lovely tribute to the tree. Much better than any material good that can be wrapped is the magic of nature. Well done, Sam πŸ™‚
