The Swimming Hole

————

Swimming hole…

fishies roll…

shaped a bit like

ice cream bowl..

marked off by a

narrow pole…

cooling down now

is our goal…

shark’s teeth here…

black as coal..

fossils found

deep in a hole…

When deep you dive…

into the cold…

pleasure sings right

through your soul..

  1. Sitting in the truck waiting for our friends. Checked poetry world to see you added a new gem:). I want to go swimming despite the risks. You? Lol. Lovely. Again. You’re going to get sick of hearing it surely.

  2. Oh, I like this one. So chipper and fun. 🙂 So jealous, as I sit here in winter clothes in June on my balcony! This CA girl still hasn’t warmed up to WA. Looks like such a nice place to cool off. Nice word choices…pleasure….soul…and all the images. Yay! 🙂 Sam the fruit of green

  3. This looks so cool (in every way)! David don’t think I’ve ever been in a ‘swimming hole’ per say…Is it different than a lake or pond ??? Love your upbeat poem – great rhythm! 🙂

    • a swimming hole is a general term to describe any local, non commercialized, natural, swimming area…It would be the lake or pond, but the part you swim at:))))

      • ahhh.. got it:) Guess I spend too much time in the ocean and missed out on this little bit of joy. Gotta find me a ‘swimming hole’ to experience now! 🙂

  4. I know the swimming hole well here in this Kentucky humid bowl. They are refreshing. But some go stagnant mid-summer so be careful. Some here we have found water moccasins.Love the poem it was such a refreshing poem for the morning cup of coffee. Thank you.

    • Here. Usually they’re year round. But I’ve heard the cumberland plateau has lots of seasonal wonders. Ooooh. Cottonmouths are aways an issue
