The Lurking Gold

Read the Call of Cthulhu…still very much in a Lovecraft state of mind lol

Leaving a wake of destruction

in its path…

Slurping down the river,

bloated to

the point of bursting…

The bulbous glow

began to

swallow up all

living things around…

Becoming mountainous in size…

Flaring its rays out

like slithering tentacles,

eager for a meal….

Leaving the river quivering

and shaking

until the glorious

light had consumed

all but only

Β a shard…

of what

had been there before…

  1. This may be my favorite photo!!! What a powerful “glow” as evidenced by you magnificent poem… Still on a spooky roll! The poor river… Quivering … Great work David!

  2. Funny..this did not spook me in the slightest…it was graphic and engaging…vivid, and colourful though the image is b/w…I really like this one too:)maybe I can handle this horror

    • GREATTTT Story!! I don’t know if you ever played the Elder Scrolls Oblivion, but they have a quest called the Shadow over Hackdirt…Very creepy where the town has kidnapped a girl and is worshiping the “deep ones” very cool

  3. “They walk unseen and foul in lonely places where the Words have been spoken and Rites howled through at their Seasons. The wind gibbers with Their voices, and the earth mutter with Their consciousness.” ~ Lovecraft
His words are so rhythmic and pulsing…..and deep….aren’t they?

Poor shivering and quaking river….I feel its intense fear and invasion….nicely done! Mighty horror weaver of Fishland. And the fish, do they too shiver as the wind gibbers? Creative way to get your juices flowing. And good juices you’ve presented, Sir D.

  4. I see you managed to work the word “shard” in! πŸ˜‰ I also love the word “bulbous” too, there is something quite robust about that word. As ever, excellent! Your descriptive powers are amazing. Such a talent!

      • Bulbous is also somewhat arousing too! Anyway… Are you working on anything? I am attempting to write a morning poem.

        • Ditto! Question… I just changed the background colour of my blog to grey, do you like it or prefer the black?

        • Yes, I shall give it 24 hours to grow on me. Thanks! πŸ™‚ Slightly off topic, but I needed a second opinion! I think red, grey and black are a good combination.

        • I need to make a page for this…I keep putting that off…time to stop being lazy lol…ok..I’ll have one up within the week lol or so i say…lol

        • Lol! OK, well let me know and I shall most definitely like it! I set one up last week… It’s slowly picking up.

        • I need to make a page for this…I keep putting that off…time to stop being lazy lol…ok..I’ll have one up within the week lol or so i say…lol ok…have a good day:)))

  5. David, the picture is fascinating! And you wrote incredibly deeply. I simply urge you to meditation poemult writing!
