Silver Eyes/Sunlighting

———-

Flame inspired with molten love,

the river boiled deliciously

like sweet jumbalaya…

churning hydraulics

carried the golden beast

hither and yon

mercurially oozing

forward with silver eyes…

never blinking…never seeing…

but sunlighting the universe

all the same…

Rising upwards on fragrant threads

Until the last twinkle

burned out of a

once proud sky…

      • You used a lot of my very favorite words. The flow of the poem, how the words are strung together was soothing to read. And the way you combined words, such as “fragrant threads” and “molten love” and “boiled deliciously.” And the use of jumbalaya and then right after hydraulics….it caught my attention. And as I already said before, the word choice is delightful. πŸ™‚ Hope that helps. Hugs πŸ˜‰

  1. Ah…so much to love here…not sure where to start…it’s all luscious…the mercury throw back…water, sun, food..lol. All great.

  2. Beautiful poem David…. “never blinking, never seeing but sun lighting the universe just the same…” Something so generous about that line…. And great shot — the way the you picked up the flame in the river πŸ™‚ Great all around!! Sending wishes for a Happy 4th for you and yours! ~RL
