Caught in the Fog

Deep in the dark…

dark in the deep…

Silently comes..

ever it creeps..

Throats are all closed

even the frogs…

Sinister shaded…

Twisted gray fog…

The sounding of bells…

The clanging of gongs…

Watch where you step…

Fear is so strong…

Invisible hunters…

coming for you…

Never look back..

your chances are few…

holding out hope…

life crashing down…

silently sneaking

with nary a sound..

Caught in their clutches…

Trapped once again…

begging and pleading..

caught in my sin…

Surrounded by fog…

eternally raged…

It’s always like this…

bound in my cage…

  1. Can I tell you yet again…I love your lyrical pieces…love everything about this one, every line, some more than others, but every single one.

    • and the odd thing is…i have no plans for this…After the first line i think….Ok..this one will rhyme…or not lol..Weird way to about it i know

      • I’m the same…they come out freeverse or rhyming no intent…just how it works…but your lyrical twists smoothly in my mind as I read it…paints more clear to my mind, the freeverse, I need to spend more time unravelling…harder to understand the picture being painted in my mind, but that’s just my brain processing ability, nursery rhyme mode most days..lol

  2. David, as always exceptional …. everything! your words are brilliant! I like the picture torn from a piece of heaven, full of quiet and rest. Congratulations, David!
Have a good night , David and for one day tomorrow blessed with happiness! 🙂

  3. Excellent David. I read this when I was out and could not type on i phone… but sort of hit home for me. Often feel like I’m imprisoned in cage(that is my pain body). Your rhythm in this poem is awesome — and imagery too – dark though it is … and i love foggy photos – this one is stunning. Hope all is well by you ~ 🙂

  4. Excellent. Could feel this one…..I happen to like fog, as Monterey is foggy and the fog makes me think of home. But I can think of fog as this way, too. You were very effective in creating a vivid emotional experience. Of course, I want to open your cage….as that is me…but I know we each have our own cage and that the door is always open when we can see clearly. Hugs to a free bird, Sir D, Knight of Fishland, located near the land of elves….the coolest place to live. ~ green fruit of the ages….and so very sleepy….yawn….
