Under Light of Dark (from March)

Dawn is arriving and I am of course awake…Its at this time when things change.  The night goes to sleep as the day arrives and all things shake off their nocturnal slumbers…then again, some things crossover from day to night and back again…Feelings and emotions take an interesting hit as well….some things just seem different…..

———————–

Maddened by the night…It’s sounds a rude enchantment…

My footsteps echo on the cobblestones of a once lovely path…

Darkness bathes in beauty… secrets never found…

under light of dark friendly light remains…

twisted…intensified…shone through a pinprick’s confusion…

My step quickens….

The insects a Calliope of fear…

Trees rustle with sinister implications…

I know this place but I’ve seen it not…

panting….breathing in the black….

silent screams surround me with cool sincerity…

Squeezing eyes shut against the pressure…

with shaking hands I grasp for luminosity…

A talisman of strength and sorrow…

To battle bitter memories…

under light of dark…

nothing is the same…

under light of dark…

  1. I really related to this poem, very well written. looks like I’m not the only one who is haunted by thoughts at night.

  2. What is that a photo of? I like it much! Awe………such touching words. The hidden secrets and bitter memories. There are magical and deep times as light and dark mingle and transition. Magic in many ways—even in the sense that the moment has the ability to bring us to the caverns of thought and emotion so we may return with diamonds of knowledge. You, Sir D, have dived so deep so many times that you are wise indeed. Glad you are sharing some oldies; they do be goodies. Sam the green fruit 🙂 Hugs

  3. Perfect photo for this deep and excellent poem of the night. I am enjoying your recycled posts David. Do recall when you would give a header summary as you do hear at the top. Like that too!! ~ Luminous thoughts your way friend, RL 🙂

  4. I really enjoyed the juxtaposition of light and dark and how you explore the search for something to hold on to in the seat of darkness. As always, a treat. Dazzling David!

  5. David, you wrote absolutely gorgeous, even if it feels a touch of sadness in the lyrics.
The natural order of things, darkness frightens us, there is pain in our hearts makes us suffer pain … but dawn, always wash the bitter moments that we lived in darkness, and we are happy!
Have a good night, David …. and sweet dreams! And happiness for tomorrow! 🙂

  6. there are multiple things I love about this write…it is a perfect desciption of that fear…but the bitter memories side….perfect too. A master at the internal.

  7. amazing how the night brings out serene emotions and sometimes a tad of loneliness…
You are an amazing writer, your poems are very descriptive and just wonderful…
It takes me out even when i’m here in the office…:D
Thanks for the pleasurable trip of my mind
