Fell on Dark Days…

————–

(yes…It’s a reference to soundgarden)

————

Drifting off the edge of the world…

stretching out my fingertips

and reaching for what

might have been….

Gliding between the stately oaks…

Feeling the roughness of the bark

on this ever darkening dusk…

Feeling content, until…

The night descended completely

and with a ripping sound…

my skin slowly and delicately peeled

off my body…

sloughing off and falling dull

and lifeless to the ground….

And underneath…

Is me…

Bright…

shiny…

 and filled

with silver sparkles…

glowing with freshness and

crimson desire…

Ready for the sunlight

of a new day…

But just as comfortable…

Living in the cool…

and ambiguous…

shadows…

  1. Soundgarden,YES!!! What a fabulous poem! I enjoyed the details of skin peeling off and the silver sparkles, crimson desires, and shadows… too much in here to be fond. Loved it and the image!
