Spotlight on Fear

—————-

While sometimes hiding

in darkened corners feels safe…

and comforting…

Not everything in those dimly

lit places is friendly….

or kind…

Surely you may consider

yourself valiant…

or brave…

but you would be wrong…

so very wrong…

for when their tentacular

arms reach out of the night…

eager to latch on…

grasp tight…

and feed…

oh yes…

feed deeply and slowly…

Twisting you about like

a puppet with no volition

of your own….

Til your minds knows nothing

but  frozen desperation…

and you will wish….

yes wish…

with every fabric of your

tearing apart soul…

to be in the spotlight…

to wait within the safety of the day….

and to be as far away

as possible…

from things…

that suck….

and grasp…

within the cold…

of the endless…

night…

  1. I love this descriptive piece. A picture painted in the brain plus the photo-the angle as if looking out of a shadowy embrace. Quite loved this.
