My blood is like Oil

Spider Tree

A nexus of veins test the air…

Tentatively they reach out…

Gingerly stretching forward like the wispy

branches of a spider tree…

Pumping forth their blood…

Fresh from a deepening

wound…

sliced cleanly by a dagger

sharp tongue…

thick as oil

Dripping from capillaries

long since clogged…

Til the ground becomes slippery soft…

And the Earth sighs deeply

at another sad gash…

upon its once…

beautiful…

face…

  1. “Gingerly stretching forward like the wispy branches of a spider tree” is my pick. It is an exact match with the photograph. And that a tree has life is proven literally through every word in the poem. Superlike πŸ™‚
