The Endless Unknown

the beginning of the end

What seemed like an endless delight….

Miles and miles of the sweetest sea…

Lined by wavy grasses

whispering in the wind…

and caressed by waves

as sweet as the gentlest lover…

Has changed…

subtle, oh so subtle at first…

Deepening water, filled

with the boldest of sharks…

circling, darting…

waiting for a hint of blood…

or fear…

and still I remain…

Hands wringing together…

Clutching my stomach….

Hoping to keep the sanguine goodness

inside….

But, knowing one day that

it all may flow out…

Dripping down…

Until nothing is left…

but the dry…

scarred bottom…

of the sea…

  2. Beautiful poem. Endless unknown well described life. The end of the poem hits me like all your poems do, this one is very sad. New day is here and endless unknown continues. Have nice day David.
